Lisa holds a B.A. from Smith College and an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from the University of Pennsylvania. Since 2002, Lisa has helped hundreds of students navigate the college admissions process and write application essays that get results. She strives to alleviate the pressure that high school students and parents face as students apply to colleges. As a Certified Educational Planner and a professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association, Lisa regularly attends conferences and seminars to learn about the latest education and college admissions trends. Melissa – English, History, Admissions Essays

After earning a B.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts, Melissa completed an M.A. in Secondary Education at Boston College. She has taught at public and private high schools around Boston. She loves writing academic papers, but also teaches creative writing and AP classes. When she's not teaching, Melissa spends time with her husband, two dogs, and a cat. Read more about Melissa.

Matt – Biology, Chemistry, Math, SAT & ACT

Matt recently earned his M.S. and Ph.D in chemistry from the University of Chicago with a 4.0 GPA. Prior to that, he graduated from The College of New Jersey with a B.S. in chemistry, a minor in math, and a minor in music. Throughout his academic career, Matt has been deeply committed to education. In graduate school, he taught undergraduate organic chemistry courses and received a Physical Sciences Division Teaching Award based on student nominations. As an undergraduate, he tutored college-level math and chemistry through TCNJ’s tutoring center and worked with local middle and high school students. In high school, he tutored SAT prep, math, and chemistry at a local tutoring center. In his free time, Matt loves running (he ran his first marathon last year!), skiing, and going on long walks with his dog, Geo. Read more about Matt.

Jiangyong – High School & College Math, Physics, SAT& ACT

Jiangyong graduated from the University of Vermont with a B.S. in physics and a computer science minor. He went on to earn two M.S. degrees, one from UVM and one from Brown University, where he received the Award of Excellence as a graduate teaching assistant. He brings extensive teaching experience in physics, mathematics, and computer science, including teaching undergraduate physics labs at Brown University. In his free time, Jiangyong enjoys playing jazz on his trombone and bass guitar.

Ethan – Middle & High School Math, History & SAT

Ethan worked at a local high school as a math teacher but is currently on hiatus to pursue a law degree at the University of Massachusetts. Before that, he earned University Honors at the University of New Hampshire, where he earned a B.A.  As an undergrad, Ethan discovered his love of teaching through volunteering at Breakthrough Manchester, an academic enrichment program for underserved but motivated middle and high school students in local communities. In his free time, Ethan enjoys playing the bass guitar.

Abi – SAT, ACT, English & Admissions Essays

Abi holds a B.S. in human development from Brigham Young University, where she served as a teaching assistant. After graduation, she gained extensive teaching experience, working with over 150 students as an English student teacher. She furthered her education by earning an M.A. in education and is now a dedicated high school English teacher. Beyond the classroom, Abi is a passionate "foodie" who recently embarked on a self-guided culinary tour of South Korea. Her diverse interests include painting, writing music, reading, rock climbing, hiking, gardening, and spending time at the lake. She is also obsessed with flowers! Read more about Abi.

Linda – Middle School & High School Math & SAT

Linda has spent over two decades at a local high school teaching math, SAT prep, and tutoring students who were unable to attend school. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a B.A. in mathematics, Linda furthered her education at Bridgewater State University, earning an M.A. in instructional technology. She enjoys the one-on-one connection of tutoring and how it allows her to focus on the specific issues a student may be struggling with. When she’s not tutoring, Linda enjoys crafts, photography, volunteering at a local cat shelter, making soup, walking on the beach, and spending time with her family. Additionally, she loves to travel. Her vacations to Greece, Alaska, and the national parks have been among her favorites. Read more about Linda.

Liz – High School Math, Physics, SAT & ACT

Liz moved back to the area after completing her B.S. in Astronomy & Astrophysics at the Florida Institute of Technology. As an undergrad, she tutored students in the community, sometimes taking them to the Kennedy Space Center for astronomical viewing events as a learning experience. Before college, Liz completed the Early College Program in Aeronautical Engineering at Clarkson University. It goes without saying, she’s a STEM enthusiast! She also enjoys figure skating, painting murals, and playing the flute.

Karli – Study Skills, Math, English, Spanish, SAT, SSAT & ISEE

A summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Karli received a B.A. in philosophy with minors in English, gender and women’s studies, and flute performance. Karli helped guide students with one-on-one instruction as a teaching assistant and currently works as an instructional aide at a local high school. Karli started playing flute in the 5th grade, played in the wind ensemble in college, and it remains one of her passions. Read more about Karli.

Erin – SAT, SSAT, ISEE & HSPT

We are glad to welcome Erin back to our team for her eighth year! She has over 15 years of experience teaching high school environmental science, math, and biology, including AP Biology. She currently teaches these subjects at a local independent school. Erin received her M.A. in education from Boston College. A mother of three, she coaches softball, runs half marathons and marathons, and enjoys hiking in her free time. Read more about Erin.

Hayley – English, Study Skills, SAT & ACT

Hayley graduated from Barnard College with a B.A. in English. In the fall of her senior year, she was a Barnard admissions interviewer, interviewing and evaluating over 100 applicants and sharing her knowledge and experience with prospective students. For nearly a decade, Hayley has tutored students in reading comprehension, writing, and test prep, and has helped them with their admissions essays. Hayley is also a humorist with contributions to The New Yorker and McSweeney’s. In her downtime, she enjoys writing short stories, personal essays, comedy sketches, and musicals. Kelley – Middle School & High School Math & Science

Kelley graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University with a B.S. in chemical engineering, a B.M. in music, and a minor in computer science. Kelley has experience working one-on-one with students as an academic tutor and music teacher. She holds an M.A. in music from the New England Conservatory and dreams of playing in a big-city orchestra. She is a self-proclaimed foodie who also enjoys the aquarium in her free time. Jennie – College, Graduate, & Professional School Admissions Essays

Jennie holds a B.A. in classical studies from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A. in Italian from Middlebury College, and an M.A. and a Ph.D. in art history from Bryn Mawr College. She has held postdoctoral research fellowships at Columbia and Princeton and began her teaching career teaching at Oberlin before joining the faculty at her current institution, where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate students. A prolific writer, Jennie has authored and edited multiple books and scholarly articles. Ever since first studying classics in Rome, Jennie has remained very connected to Italy, returning regularly for summer research and even living there on a Fulbright grant. Enamored of the city's art, architecture, and history, she broadened her interests to include interwar and post-war Italian art, architecture, and cinema. A National Endowment for the Humanities summer seminar on fascism at the American Academy in Rome further fostered her interest in the relationship between art and politics. Fluent in Italian, she continues to travel regularly to Venice for summer research and teaching. Jennie initially joined our team more than ten years ago, and we're thrilled she has rejoined us after taking a few years off.
