Summer 2010 Small Group Enrichment Programs
Apt Tutoring & Test Prep is proud to offer a variety of one week academic and enrichment programs for your child this August in Hingham and at the Weymouth Club. Our commitment to building confidence and fostering a love of learning in all students extends throughout the summer vacation, when students can not only combat the "learning gap" but also have the opportunity to nurture their intellectual passion. As always, our programs are student-centered, individualized, and flexible. We offer courses for students of all ages and abilities, and are committed to each student's success.
Our Summer Small Group Programs Include:
In addition, just as during the school year, our one-on-one tutoring provides students with individualized programs of study in any area of interest, including reading, math, SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, and college essays. If your child has a specialized area of interest or a busy schedule, we can accommodate his or her needs with an individualized program.
Meeting times will be determined by students' availability.
Writer’s Workshop
Students will work on personal narrative writing, how to writing, and non-fiction writing. Special attention will be given to the fundamentals of good writing, including voice, grammar, word choice and spelling.
Get Ready for Kindergarten
Students will work on phonemic awareness, letter/number recognition, and understanding concepts about print. Each meeting will include a daily read aloud, a craft, counting and alphabet games, and songs and poems.
Get Ready for First Grade
Students will work on number sense and, using Choral Reading and Shared Reading, phonemic awareness and letter sounds. Each meeting will also include a read aloud, a craft and literacy centers.
College Essays Workshop
Through analysis of successful essays, consideration of actual essay questions, and brainstorming exercises, students will get a head start on their college applications and gain the tools to write their best possible essay.
